Lara Harwood combines a successful illustration career alongside her painting and printmaking practice. Her work explores both abstract and figurative subjects, either drawing directly from life or working abstractly to create bold images full of rich colour and exuberant energy. This film looks at the journey she went on to create a mural commission for the The Lane Fox REMEO Centre in Redhill Surrey. “Remeo” is Latin for Return Home, the idea being that patients come to recover before returning home.

The forest and nature had the strongest visual appeal for her. She used nature as a background and created a loose narrative with birds to tell a story based on The Remeo Ethos (a story of recovery and returning home).
