'Cry Of Tin' is a film about Somerset based Jeweller Erica Sharpe and was made on Friday 4th November 2011. She is inspired by combining old skills and exquisite materials to create jewellery with meaning.

 

"I am fascinated by the unique qualities of precious metals and gemstones, and the scientific alchemy by which they are transformed into objects of beauty."

 

This the third film to be made as part of our 5 X 5 / 7 project in November 2011 set out to discover designer jewellery maker Erica Sharpe's relationship with Cornish

Tin. She perfectly combines a special

part of Britain’s heritage with art and design to produce stunning results. This exquisite jewellery is hand-wrought in coloured golds or silver and rare Cornish Tin

 

The soundtrack was created from  recordings of Erica's workshop and the beautiful crying of the tin as it was manipulated.

 

This film was shown at; Collaborate Exhibition in Shrewsbury during December 2011, Flatpack Film Festival's 'A Lifes Work' feature at the Custard Factory in  Birmingham in March 2011 and as part of Allotment 'Plot 9' at MAC Birmingham between April to September 2012.
